It's 6 a.m. in the morning, coffee in hand you stroll across the runway from the small hut you slept in to the operations office at a small grass airfield, you are still wondering how you got a Fairchild C119 in here last night.

Already the morning mist is deep and the rain drizzling.
Mild for this time of year, you muse, normally its heavier rain and force 10 gales.

Another pilot takes off into the fog as you reach the ops office, the duty Ops manager has left an assignment in your mail pigeon hole. Take a Baron 58 down to a tiny grass strip, it's urgent, a doctor needs to be on the Island in 3 hours.

People are ill, and the health service always pays well. It's up to you to get the job done, what ever the weather. No push button flying for you, no ILS, vis less then a mile, mountains and low cloud, no autoland... But you know how to really fly, you're a AHI virtual pilot.

Microsoft flight simulation aircraft With FSE loads, assignments in a virtual economic enviroment where we can buy fixed bases (FBO's), rent, lease or buy aircraft and pay pilots plus much more, coupled to VATSIM enviroment with FORCED weather, which we are all in, the same virtual world and we can literally fly into each other! We have combined three great systems to achieve a dynamic as real as it gets enviroment for our crew.

AHI sells Scottish Airfields

Air Highlands and Islands yesterday announced it had sold both EGPW and ULL in the Scottish Islands in a surprise move.

Rob "Baltic" Woodbridge of the virtual airline said " Concern was growing that the area was to isolated in the FSE assignment world. With our recent purchase of a larger operation in Denmark we felt the concentration should be centered there."

AHI also stated that it has changed strategy in its fixed base operations to a linear end-to-end routing system utilizing larger airports with more gates, changing from the triangular set-up.

"We wish to offer more environments for operations, a linear operation that can develop over continents and not be restricted in a closed loop local routing system"

United Industries re-brands

United Industries has re-branded its company to represent its involvement in the Scottish Highlands and Shetland Islands under FS Economy assignments and VATSIM virtual airspace and weather (it gets real tough up here).

Air Highlands and Islands has been designed to accommodate its role in providing FSE load services of airmail, freight, essential personnel and commuter services to some of the most difficult airspace's in the United Kingdom.

The company has dropped out of its commercial corporate image and become a personal business for all its staff, pilots and customers.

Pilots will no longer need to wear a uniform, ranks have been dropped although a staff structure will continue, shirt and jeans are fine.

United Industries vision

Established in 2010, united industries are a non-profit organisation that strives to provide a structured, educational and rewarding environment for aspiring virtual pilots and virtual business managers.

Using the virtual air traffic simulation network (VATSIM) and, FS economy, a mircosoft flight simulator financial system, united industries provides an environment where individuals can learn the principals of flying to advanced levels with commercial considerations using available software that creates a simulated virtual airspace and the financial implications to the company.

This highly realistic system allows united industries to assimilate airline operations with depth and gives pilots a virtual-world identical in navigational terms to the real world with added commercial elements to challenge virtual-pilots, managers and directors.

The company continually strives for realistic flying and business both in time-frame and execution.

United Industries releases policy drafts

unitedindustriescareers

United Industries, the virtual airline on VATSIM and FSE, releases its draft recruitment, hour transfer and promotional policies for prospective virtual pilots to review.

1.1 Recruitment process

1.1.0 Applications are submitted to united.indust@gmail.com only, the following must be submitted

1.2.0 A valid VATSIM pilots ID

1.3.0 A valid FS Economy ID

1.4.0 Date of birth

1.5.0 State, if wishing to transfer VATSIM hours, you wish to do so. A maximum of 100 hours maybe transferred on initial application with a frozen 500 hours maximum. See hours transfers

On receipt of the correct information the application will be reviewed manually by the appropriate officer of the virtual company. An acknowledgement of receipt will be issued and you are asked to wait for further communication.

You would be asked to check the companies website, if no vacancies are currently posted you may enter a waiting list. You will be informed of your status of application. United Industries has a dynamic maximum personnel cap policy based on operational financial management accounts.

Upon a successful application you will be entered onto the roster at the appropriate rank which cannot be higher then First Officer, see hours transfer policy.

1.2 Hour’s transfers policy applicable to VATSIM hours only

A balance has been drawn on flying hours vs. company hours and their compatibility.

Company hours are based on quality executed flying, that is to say flying in which air navigation rules and procedures have been executed correctly in real-time on the VATSIM network. Flying hours, non-company hours could represent lower quality flying procedures and methods which United Industries wish to avoid.

FS Economy hours cannot be transferred; such is the nature of FS Economy that hours cannot be verified as reasonably certain of maintaining realistic flight settings.

To respect an individuals experience and maintain the companies’ virtue we have introduced an hour transfer policy which the company feels is both fair to the pilot and safe guards our reputation.

1.3 Hour transfer policy structure

1.3.0 Starting rank Trainee Pilot: VATSIM hours to transfer 16-40 hours; hours transferred after 1 (one) VATSIM/FSE VFR flight of 1 hour or more for the company and rank of Pilot awarded, Normal promotional structure engages.

1.3.1 Starting rank First Officer: VATSIM hours to transfer 101-500 hours; Transferred after 3 (three) VATSIM/FSE Full IFR flights each of 1 hour or more for the company, the rank of Captain awarded. Normal promotional structure engages.

1.4 Promotion

Pilots are responsible for their own promotional ladder. As hours are accumulated on the VATSIM/FSE company system the pilot may inform the appropriate Officer of mile stones achieved. Promotions will be announced and rewarded if approved.

Most promotional claims will be automatically approved. If however there is reason to believe that hours have been claimed which the company feels are not with in the spirit of the company environment then promotions maybe rejected. Essentially cheating or misleading the company members is frowned upon and may lead to dismissal.

The company would like to express that this is a game; as such the environment created is for enjoyment, education and fun. Falsifying experience or hours will ultimately only undermine the person involved both in sense of achievement and a reduction of the challenge.
